Abstract

The purpose of this study was conducted to determine employee perceptions of workload and work stress in the plenary restaurant. Based on the results of the pre-survey conducted, problems with workload and work stress can be identified. This study aims to understand employee perceptions of workload and work stress at Paripurna Restaurant. The background of this study is the emergence of physical complaints such as body aches and difficulty waking up in the morning shift, which are thought to be related to high workload. This research uses a qualitative method with observation, pre-interview, and documentation approaches. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with employees with varying lengths of service and positions. The data analysis technique used was thematic analysis. The results showed that most employees felt high work pressure, especially during peak hours and when understaffed. This condition triggers stress and affects their rest time and physical health. However, the support among coworkers as well as housing and meal facilities from the management helped ease the burden. In conclusion, management needs to pay attention to the division of tasks and the balance of working time to improve employee welfare.
