Abstract

Cultural Studies is a study that crosses disciplinary boundaries, as did Habermas and Pierre Bourdieu. Its supporters (experts) are mostly interested in researching popular culture, mass media and the dominant economic and socio-cultural systems. Then attempt to criticize and deconstruct domination, hegemony, and racism, state, class and gender biases that exist in that society/culture. Bennett stated that Cultural Studies is a study that emphasizes the relationship between culture and social problems and everyday life (popular culture). A plural society is not the same as a multicultural society even though they are both connected to diverse cultures. However, in multicultural societies there is intense mutual influence and interaction between cultures. Multiculturalism is a society that accepts differences, equality, justice, equality, dialogue and solidarity. In a multicultural society, differences are seen like a mosaic that increasingly beautifies the life of one society. Ben Agger states that multiculturalism is the most political version of postmodernism. It seems quite clear that multiculturalism is deeply inspired by postmodernism and neoliberal ideology as the basis for a multicultural (polyvocal) perspective.
